Larkspur is one of the most sought after towns in Marin, with its charming shops and restaurants, and excellent commute options. Tucked away under the redwoods beneath Mount Tamalpais, downtown Larkspur boasts a great dining scene. The main street, Magnolia Avenue, is a vibrant destination for food lovers who frequent restaurants such as Picco, Emporio Rulli, and the Left Bank Brasserie. The Lark Theater, also on Magnolia, has been restored to its art deco glory by a community effort and screens films. Giant redwoods grow straight out of the road in Baltimore Park and Baltimore Canyon, while the streets gently curve their way around these massive trees. The Larkspur and Corte Madera Creek paths run a few blocks parallel to Magnolia on a former railroad right of way and are popular with families, dog walkers, and bikers on their way to Point Reyes. Ferries to San Francisco depart from Larkspur Landing. Adjacent to the ferry landing is kid-friendly Marin Country Mart, always bustling with popular spots like Rustic Bakery, Farmshop, and YogaWorks, and a Saturday morning farmer’s market with crafts and music. The popular Larkspur-Corte Madera School District covers grades Kindergarten through 8th. High schoolers primarily attend Redwood High School, but are able to access the other schools in the Tamalpais Union High School District. Private Marin Primary and Middle School is based in Larkspur, as well.
