While it's reassuring that our local water reservoirs are brimming, the lengthy winter rains posed challenges for the agent community and delayed the onset of the spring market. Sunny days have finally arrived and the situation has rapidly evolved. New listings are being launched, and well-curated properties are attracting offers within days. Multiple offers are once again common, and some properties are going into contract well over the asking price.
This surge in competition can be attributed to the extraordinarily limited inventory we faced during the winter season and an increasing number of buyers eager to secure their dream homes, as well as a growing acceptance of current interest rates. While an active market is positive for all, we eagerly await the additional inventory that the spring market traditionally brings. This influx is needed to provide buyers with more options and alleviate some of the intense competition.
