Anticipating a busy spring
|
|
While 2023 was a very strong year for the Smith + Aylwin team, Marin County saw fewer sales than expected overall. The Covid-fueled frenzy of the prior two years settled down by the summer of 2022, then other market factors kicked in to further suppress activity through 2023. Lingering high interest rates and general financial dynamics kept once-interested buyers at bay, and sellers locked in with historically low interest rates chose to stay put and put their energies into updating their current surroundings. The recent drop in interest rates and talk of an economic "soft landing" may paint a different picture for 2024.
FOR BUYERS - The next few weeks are a great time to make a move for those considering buying before interest rates drop and buyer demand increases. If you're looking to purchase in 2024, now would be the time to reach out to us to get the process started. Marin County's real estate market is known for its competitive nature, and being prepared and ready to act when the right house comes along is key.
FOR SELLERS - This is the ideal time to prep for what many expect to be a very robust spring market. With the lack of inventory, there are buyers at all price points looking, and more will be entering the market in the coming weeks and months. A general rule of thumb is to prioritize your property and keep it in great shape regardless of when you plan on selling. Doing so will give you a competitive edge when it comes time to sell ... regardless of the condition of the market.

2023 Ultra Luxury Market Report
|

The end-of-year 2023 Ultra-Luxury Report is here! Of 79 U.S. markets, 23 experienced year-over-year growth in their ultra-luxury segment, as measured by transaction volume. And despite a 15.26% decrease overall in ultra-luxury sales, 1,560 homes priced at $10 million and above traded for a total of $26.84 billion, according to Compass’s Ultra-Luxury Report.
